Meet The Dedricks Family
We're the ordinary family on the block. Nothing fancy. Nothing spectacular. Just ordinary folk who love life, love laughing and love having the kids around. That's about the hardest part. Our three sons, their wives and five of our grandkids live in South Africa. We live in Toronto, Canada with our three daughters and two grandchildren and we count our blessings each day for the good life we live.
My wife Yvonne (pictured left) is an accounts payable representative and an amazing cook. Jeez, that woman can stir a pot like no one else alive!
Sandy, my eldest daughter is married to Bevan Jutzen, a great guy who is more like a son to us than a son-in-law (right). They have a three-year-old daughter called Megan Rebecca -- a delightful little darling who says the sweetest things at times. Like last week when she saw a puppy off its leash. "You better put on his seat belt, mommy," she said.
Wendy is the in-between daughter. She recently graduated from the University of Toronto and holds down a steady job with a big holding company. She and Deon van der Speck (left) are an item.
Last, but not least, is my youngest daughter Leanne, who shares our home together with her 5-year-old son Joshua (right). Josh is the ultimate trip. He's a mouthy little smart-ass who knows the answers to everything. He is a holy terror at times but we love him like crazy.
Me? I'm the local yokel, the general dog's body, the gopher and the happiest grand-pappy in town! After 26 years in journalism and 8 years in retail management, I finally found a niche I like -- the world of computers. I recently completed an advanced course in telecommunications troubleshooting at the Digital Imaging Training Center at Humber College and now I dabble in technical writing, webpage authoring and anything else that has to do with computers. At least it keeps me out of trouble -- and out of pocket!
